The Last Day of a Long Weekend
April 13, 2009
Whoever scheduled Waiver Day as an extension of Easter Break should get a raise. Today was such a wonderfully productive and relaxing day. It is well worth the extra day of work at the beginning of the year. Today I woke up in a particularly good mood to run some errands and take care of bills. I ran by Verizon Wireless to look at a Blackberry Curve and talk to the sales representative about purchasing one. At his suggestion, I searched eBay for a better deal and found what I was looking for. I placed a bid. After a couple hours at school making preparation for the upcoming bolt toward the 3rd Grade Math TAKS (10 school days away), I returned home to find that I had won the auction. The cost online was less than half what I would have paid retail. The phone will arrive on Thursday.
I did something this afternoon that I haven’t done in years. I took a new book to the pool and sat in the sun reading from cover to cover. Now I feel a rewarding sense of accomplishment. Reading for pleasure was put to the wayside throughout college. Although, I rarely cracked one of those $300 text books for course work. Anyway, I enjoyed today’s read.
It was a fantastic weekend, and now I’m ready for work.
